Lorimer was born in 1895 at Levenshulme, Manchester, to Charles Davidson and Elizabeth Isabella Huddleston. He attended Heaton Moor College, Manchester Grammar School, and the Vicennes Academy, Paris. He was a member of the University of Manchester Officer Training Corps from October 1911 to August 1914. The 1922 Manchester University Roll of Service notes him as being a ‘Traveller’ who enlised as a private the 6th Battalion Manchester Regiment in August 1914. He served in Egypt before being killed during the Third Battle of Krithia in Gallipoli.
