John Whalley

Private PS/5929, “D” Company 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers.

Killed in Action 13th March 1916, aged 24.

Buried at Cambrin Churchyard Extension, France.

Former student of Science and Technology.

 

John Whalley was born in 1892 to George and Elizabeth Whalley of Chorley, Lancashire. He was a colourist with Jos Cunliffe, Calico Printers, Whittle-le-Woods, near Chorley. In 1909 he enrolled as an evening student on Science and Technology courses. He served on the Western Front.

Manchester Municipal College of Technology Memorial in the Sackville Building, University of Manchester.
