Died of illness Saturday 11th September 1915, age 23.

Leslie was born at Ponsanooth, Falmouth, Cornwall to Reverand George and Jane Sarah Whitbread. His father was a Wesleyan Minister stationed for a time in Ashton Under Lyne. Leslie was educated at Kingswood School, Bath, entered the University in 1910 to study architecture and passed his intermediate exam in June 1913. He spent some time as an assistant to an architect called Sideney Moss before his studies, and was later articled to Brocklehurst and Co., Manchester.
When war broke out Leslie joined the 6th Battalion Manchester Regiment, trained with them at Southport, Lancashire, and Crowborough, East Sussex. He landed at Gallipoli in August 1915, but after a few days became ill with dysentery and was evacuated. He died on the journey home aboard the hospital ship “Cawdor Castle” being buried at sea near Spain in September 1915.
