Former student of textiles.
John was born in 1884 to Thomas and Elizabeth Adair of Belfast. In 1906-07 he enrolled as a day student to study textiles, and lived on Ashton New Road. At the outbreak of war he was a teacher at The Municipal Techincal Institute in Belfast.
It is not known when John was attached to the Border Regiment, but 1st Battalion arrived in Gallipoli in late April 1915 and took part in many battles. They were involved in an attack on Scimitar Hill on 21st August during which it is presumed John became a casualty.
