Eric, born in 1889 at Manchester, was the son of Reverend Fred Lamb of Wigan. He was educated at Ashville College, Harrogate, and entered Manchester University in 1910 and gained his dentistry qualification in 1912. He was in practice with his brother in Wigan when war broke out. In May 1915 he was commissioned with the Manchester Regiment. He died of influenza at a casualty clearing station near Busigny in early November 1918.
