Reginald was the only son James Harry and Amelia H. Cade of Levenshulme, Manchester. He was born in 1891 at Rochdale and attended Rossall School. In 1910 he entered Manchester University and graduated with an L.L.B. in 1913 and went on to work for Messrs. Ogden, Hardiker and Hanson Solicitors. He served with the University Officer Training Corps from January 1911 to 1914 and was commissioned before the war in April 1914. During the war he served in Gallipoli, Sinai and on the Western Front. He was wounded three times. Newspaper reports initially reported him as wounded, but he was soon confirmed as having died on 27th September. Reginald left effects worth £984 0s 4d to his father.
