Benjamin was born in 1897 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was the son of Mr J.H. Hulton of Blackpool and formerly Oldham. Benjamin attended Waterloo Secondary School in Oldham and at the outbreak of war was a clerk. From November 1915 to January 1916 he was a member of the University Officer Training Corps. He enlisted in January 1916 and servred with the 16th Battalion King’s Own Rifle and Lancashire Regiment. He gained his commission in June 1917 and after some time in the Machine Gun Corps he transferred to the Tank Corps. He was killed near Amiens, France in July 1916. He left effects worth £100 19s 4d to Annie Hulton, a widow.
