George was born on 8th June 1892 to John W. Meldrum. He was educated at Manchester Grammar School 1905-1911 where he won his colours for the harriers. He has not been located in the available Tech registers, but was awarded a University Scholarship by Cheshire County Council.
George died serving in France in April 1917.
